Balanced Ventilation in Passive Houses
Join us for an evening of learning about fresh air and how to design and install balanced ventilation systems. Learn why balanced ventilation systems are important for health, comfort and great indoor air quality. No building should be without fresh air!

Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The educational portion of the program will begin at 7:15 pm.
1. How to Design an Efficient Residential Ventilation System with Dr. Kara Rosemeier - Kara is an expert in ventilation for residential buildings. Her PhD thesis looked at "Healthy and affordable housing in New Zealand: the role of ventilation." She is the chair of the Passive House Institute New Zealand and teaches part-time at the architecture department of Unitec in Auckland, NZ. She joins us in the Bay Area as part of a speaker tour of across North America which is organized by the North American Passive House Network and is hosted here locally by Passive House California.
2. The Challenges of Building a Passive House that is also the first Hayward Healthy Home with Bill Hayward - Bill set out to build a new home after finding that his old home was making his family sick. He was determined to make indoor air quality and the health of my family paramount in the design the new home. Recognizing that many of the objectives of a Passive House coincided with his ideas about a healthy home, Bill also decided to make his new home a Passive House. He’ll share the fascinating data about he learned in completing the project.
This event is part of the 2016 NAPHN Speaker Tour, supported by local affiliate host, Passive House California, in collaboration with Hayward Lumber and the San Mateo AIA.
