3:00pm to 5:30pm

Join Passive House California for our regular monthly meeting, this one at a project job site. Due to the venue, we will not host our regular ‘Intro to Passive House’ segment. This meeting will start at 3.00pm for all attendees. (Please wear job site-appropriate clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.) Cost is free for PHCA Professional Members, $5 for Supporters and $10 donation is requested from all guests. Donations support the ongoing projects & operations of PHCA.

Presentation Topic:

Progress, PHPP and DesignPH
This ongoing PHCA project will update members on project progress. The presentation will provide an opportunity to learn more about Passive House energy modeling using DesignPH – the Sketchup plugin developed for use with the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP.) Laney Instructor, John Shurtz, will share air-sealing details developed with Contractor, Chris Polk. The recent blower-door test results will be revealed (and celebrated!) PHPP and Design PH Sketchup tool will be demonstrated by former Laney students, Stephen Sandborn, and Certified Passive House Consultant, Bronwyn Barry.

This Ashton Street Passive House is an ongoing collaboration between PHCA and Laney College. It has been designed by PHCA members and built by the students of the Laney College Carpentry Department, with funding from the Oakland Rotary Club and the City of Oakland. Countless hours have already been donated to provide architectural design, engineering, Passive House modeling, T24 Energy modeling, General Contracting, project management and more. This project will become a Passive House retrofit showcase.

Presenters: John Shurtz (Laney Instructor), Chris Polk, (General Contractor), Stephen Sandborn & Bronwyn Barry (Design PH & PHPP.)
