Home of the First Certified Passive House Windows in the US - Factory Tour.
"As goes California, so goes the nation." This is the maxim that is typically used for all progressive environmental and energy efficient programs that very often start right here in California. This held true for high performance windows in 2013 when Casagrande Woodworks announced that they had become the first US window manufacturer to design and produce a Certified Passive House Window. Visitors will be given a tour of the factory where these windows were produced and see new profiles in development, plus a few windows currently in production.
Jeff Casagrande, is the owner of Casagrande Woodworks and Synergist Windows. While touring an Italian woodworking machine factory in 2009, Jeff watched a window line being tested. He was instantly fascinated and, upon returning home to California, began educating himself on German and Italian window construction methods. He arranged meetings and built relationships with leaders in the quality fenestration industry. He spent two years researching the unique needs of the North American window market. The result is Synergist Window Company, a brand of high-performance windows with multiple functions, clean lines, furniture-quality finishes and smooth hardware. Combined with the ability to offer large sizes with slim sight lines, creating windows with large views engineered for longevity, comfort, and performance.
Craig Bower joined the Casagrande Woodworks team in 2012. Craig draws experience from a diverse technical background and a longtime passion for woodworking. As a building contractor, Craig developed an appreciation for designing projects that were both efficient and withstood the test of time. More than three decades ago, Craig was designing and building energy efficient homes that included features such as: low heat loss glazing packages, improved building envelope insulation packages, coupled thermal mass systems, and solar heating systems. Craig returned to college to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and further his knowledge of building sciences. After obtaining his degree, Craig worked in the design field gaining additional experience in commercial building and facilities design. He went on to work for a local municipality where he broadened his experience in facilities management.
