Project Description: | New construction on vacant lot allowed us to orient this project perfectly to maximize solar access for renewable generation. The owners requested a New England Colonial style home, with modern interiors. The lot allowed us to design a detached garage and the design brief encouraged an optimized building form-factor, making it easy to reach 0.3ACH n50 for the blower door test. A simplified mechanical system with ventilation air provided through the same ducts as the heating and cooling system, further optimized the performance of this home. Monitoring data is showing this home performing as a 'plus' energy home with a 7.2 kW array able to easily net out the home and vehicle energy generation needs. |
