2025 Code Breaker: Multifamily Ventilation

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is an important part of supporting Health & Safety for multifamily dwelling units, and the 2025 Energy Code establishes new Mandatory requirements for IAQ ventilation in multifamily buildings.  Additional prescriptive standards now also apply to multifamily IAQ in support of energy efficiency and Health & Safety. Join us for this 1-hour session in which we will dive into the equipment and testing requirements for multifamily dwelling unit IAQ and local exhaust systems (such as kitchen range hoods).

Learning Objective:

  • Communicate how Indoor Air Quality is a key piece of the Energy Code in support of Health & Safety
  • Determine what design options are allowed for IAQ systems by the 2025 Energy Code, and the testing protocols that result from the design configuration used for the project
  • Establish the minimum kitchen range hoods local exhaust requirements for design documents and installation
  • Examine the benefits of Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) and Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) systems and be able to identify the Energy Code requirements in regard to ERV and HRV systems
