Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist, NFPA

Stuart Mitchell is an expert in Wildfire Mitigation and community safety. His background includes conducting over 1,000 home assessments as a contractor with the nonprofit Fire Safe Sonoma, where he also produced educational presentations on preparing for wildfires in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI).

He is a Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist through the NFPA—a certification held by only about 200 people nationwide—and has completed S290 Intermediate Wildfire Behavior training. Combining environmental science with human dynamics, Stuart has served as a FEMA trained Crisis Counselor for the Sonoma Complex Fires, is certified in Community Emergency Response Team implementation, and has directed various nonprofit mental health programs.
